Welcome back!!! I’m glad you decided to stay the course in learning how to crochet! In this crochet basics video, you’re going to learn how to make your starting chain and start crocheting! The first stitch you’re going to learn and hopefully, practice, is the single crochet stitch.
What is the single crochet stitch?
This stitch is one of the tighter stitches and one of the most time consuming, depending on the project. Don’t let the use of this stitch discourage you because it is a very important foundation stitch! Here’s why, you can create some beautiful pieces using this stitch and/or use it to create glorious pieces with other stitches. Check out a couple of projects I completed using single crochet below (some of these ReCreations use more than one type of stitch)!
Unsure how to get your yarn on your hook?
That’s okay! You can learn how to create a slip knot 2 ways. Just check out this post with a corresponding video below:
Crochet projects for beginners
You don’t necessarily have to “have” a project to practice your crocheting. You could just start crocheting and keep going until you’re satisfied with the result. A couple of projects that will encourage you to practice and continue your crochet journey are creating coasters, placemats, and scarves. Remember, practice makes perfect, so use your new skills to make gifts for others! 🙂
